?6,000 of help for franchisees in Gateshead - Business News ...

POTENTIAL franchisees in Gateshead are being given the chance to bid for support worth over ?6,000 to help with start-up legal costs, office space and business planning advice.

Ten start-up franchises will each be given a package of support worth up to ?6,420 that includes specialist advice and training from experts in franchising, up to 100% towards their legal fees plus help with sourcing funding.

The package will also include 12 months of subsidised office and workshop use with the first three months completely free.

The support packages, arranged by Gateshead Council, are available to any franchise looking to base itself in Gateshead.

Applicants should have between 30% and 50% of the funding required to start their franchise. The scheme would suit anyone establishing a franchise that needs a base in the North or North East areas.

The deadline for prospective franchises to apply is March 15 and businesses must be in a position to be up and running by September 2013.

Gateshead Council cabinet member for employment and skills, Coun Malcolm Graham, said: ?We hope that this funding will be the catalyst needed for 10 new franchises to find their feet and become successful.?

Potential franchisees should contact Caroline Preston at Gateshead Council on 0191 433 2855 or email her at carolinepreston@gateshead.gov.uk
