DETROIT (WWJ) ? It?s been nearly 15 years since the Chinese Circus performed in Detroit.
Music Hall President and Artistic Director Vincent Paul said ?Cirque Chinois? takes the stage?Thanksgiving?weekend for two performances.
?There is great energy, but I think it?s very moody and mysterious and doing these ancient?Chinese?Arts and the?imagery?is very dream like to me,? said Paul. ?Sometimes there are particular sections of the show, they do a number with the straw hat ? it?s silly ? what can you do with a straw hat? Well if you put 50 men on stage and you stand them like a pyramid and they start passing these hats to each to other.
It?s a big show, there are 72 performers ? they really wanted to craft a show that could be set in a performing arts centers. And the Music Hall is perfect!? Paul said to WWJ?s city beat reporter Vicki Thomas.
The National Circus of the People?s Republic of China?weekend performances at the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts are Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m..
