Theresa Brummer, former Rogers head coach and longtime faculty member in District 728, is the new volleyball coach for the Elk River Elks.
?She has enthusiasm and passion for the game, and for Elk River,? said Mike Cunningham, activities director, in announcing his choice to succeed Pam Gothe, who resigned after 10 years.
Brummer, a physical education teacher for 24 years in the district, was an Elk assistant coach under Brenda Holmgren for a decade. She headed the new Rogers program for six years before resigning to have time to watch her own children in sports at ERHS.
Brummer was Gothe?s varsity assistant this year. She also coaches freshman basketball.
?Elk River has an excellent program, with all the components you need to be successful,? said Brummer. ?I look forward to helping to continue that success.?
At Brainerd High School, Brummer was a volleyball, basketball and track athlete. The St. Cloud State graduate teaches physical education at Hassan Elementary.
Theresa and Brad Brummer have two sons, Logan, 22, and Benjamin, 20, and a daughter, Becca, 17, who?ll be one of her senior volleyball players next fall.
